CoCo Was Slow Cooked
I know it's been a while since I wrote a blog but I must say that I'm glad I'm back. I had to share what happened to me today...well...to CoCo and it so happens that this befell her on one of my whimsical writing Wednesdays. I'm going to put this in story form.
CoCo is telling the story:
I don't know why Keisha wants me to share this with ya'll but I guess I'm going to have to. Nevertheless, my name is CoCo and I'm sweet and delicious baby. Keisha made me round and decided to name me CoCo because of my chocolate skin and flavor. I gotta tell you though, I'm beautiful but Keisha screwed me up. SHE JACKED ME UP YA'LL! I'm only supposed to be cooked for thirty to forty five minutes...but...you what she did? She slow cooked me. My temperture is always set at 325 degrees but homegirl had me on 225 degrees for more than an hour because she had an "urgent" doctors appointment and didn't put me in the oven on time. How is she gone leave me roastin' in the oven while she goes and do what she has to do. Keisha knows I'm not supposed to be cooked like that. She is on trip mode for sure.
How is it my fault? Why did she do me like that? I'm trying to figure out what I did to deserve such torture. I can't believe she hooked me up like that. She made me mad so let me tell you what I did to Mrs. Lapsley (Keisha). First, I didn't finish cooking on the top. I cooked just enough lol. I tasted horrible on the top. Second, when she put me in her brand new caddy, I broke into tiny pieces...not all of me now but around the edges and a nice little chunk on the bottom. Whew! I love it! LOL! I wish you could see my face. Then when she closed the caddy, I acted a plum fool ya'll. I slid around almost crumbling. I went through some thangs today. Keisha must have picked up on my attitude because she slammed me up against the car door on the way to class. I made sure to get back at her for that but I waited and bidded my time. As soon as she went to put frosting on me, I allowed little bits and pieces of myself to nicely merge in with the frosting. I looked a hot mess. After all the fighting and proving my point, I grew tired . I'm not quite sure how I taste but I bet'cha next time she will cook me right. I'll holla at ya'll later. Peace!
"Whateva CoCo!" I say.
"Don't trip," says CoCo then continues to say, "Ya'll see me in that white frosting...lol...told you."
I hope you all enjoyed CoCo's story because you won't here it again. Thanks for visiting on Whimiscal Writing Wednesdays.

Come Aside & Rest
Last night I had a dream. It was simple with a simple interpretation. I was talking to one of my old church mothers from a previous church and she was wearing all black with the white collar around her neck. She was telling me how tired she was and that she was going to step down. I didn't understand it until now. Soon after I woke up God immediately have me the interpretation. My church mother represented the church and she was speaking of how the church was feeling. The church is tired and want rest.
Later on this morning as I was reading "Facing Your Giants" by Max Lucado, God confirmed the word He gave me through a dream. He was talking about David and the Brook Besor. Please read this story, it will bless you (I Sam chapter 30). Reading it in any version will bless you. One thing stuck out as I was reading (one of many), it was when Max Lucado said, "It's okay to rest. Jesus is your David, He fights when you cannot. He goes where you cannot. He's not angry if you sit. Did He not invite us to "Come off by ourselves: let's take a break and get a little rest." (Mark 6:31).
Many of us have been through tremendous, horrific, beyond stressful, frustrating, depressing, oppressing, tiresome things lately that left scars, open wounds, heavy hearts, heartache and or damaged faith. We are like those soldiers at the brook Besor, too tired to go on, too tired to fight anymore. We realize that we need to rest. We just can't do it anymore. It's okay. It doesn't mean to leave our spouse, quit our job or give our children up for adoption or to grandparents or give up on ministry, helping the hurt, bruised and hungry. However it does imply that we need to walk away, come aside and talk to the ONLY ONE that can restore us. David and the 400 other men went on to battle while the ones that were too tired to go on stayed at the brook Besor. Jesus is doing the same. The only difference is, He's already fought that battle for us. He's already conquered the graves that we continously keep trying to fight. He's already received the strips for that disease that ails your body. He's ALREADY encamped angels around your marriage, keeping the wayward women and men away from your spouse. He's already set up THE hospital for your loved ones that haven't found their way to Him yet. He's already been beaten, bruised and crucified for the sin you continue to commit and needs help getting over it. He's already traded His blood for the blood of your generational curse. HE HAS DONE IT ALL!!!
Not only that but the Bible said that "David will recover all" and "David recovered all" (I Sam 30 KJV). Even the ones who stayed behind at the brook and didn't go on to battle recovered spoils as well. David, the future king, knew the gifts of the battle and he shared. Just like our King, He has no respect of person. He sees the need for the gift, the spoils and fulfills it, even if it's undeserving. You will recover all!
Come aside with Him. Sit at the foot of your mountain with Jesus and rest. He may not move it but He will show you how to climb it and put it under your feet. That way it is not conquering you but you conquering it through Christ Jesus. Hallelujiah!!! We do not have to fight anymore. Give it to Jesus. Give him to Jesus. Give her to Jesus. Give them to Jesus. Give whatever it is to Jesus and rest from weariness, depression, oppression, heartache, heaviness and sorrow. Receive His love, joy, peace and "Come Thirsty". Soon enough, you will be back on your feet.
I pray in my heart...earnestly...that you receive this. You can recover from your fall : )

Ministering Mondays Vol 4
Good Morning!
Praise God for an awesome weekend of rest and relaxation! Now it's time to get back on the grind. This morning, God shared some insight about Proverbs 2:1-5 with verse 3 as the main text. He wants us to know that we need to cry out for knowledge and lift our voice for understanding.
As I looked up the definitions of both words, knowledge and understanding, I found that in both definitions the words were in each other's definition, such as, knowledge had understanding in its definition and understanding had knowledge in its definition. I found it exhilarating that both words intertwined with each other. We can't have one without the other. They go together.

You have to listen to the show first before you can read further and understand what is being written.
It will bring this whole thing together for you. We do not have to experience every bad thing or situation out there to be able to minister. God has placed people around us that has been through things that we, ourselves, haven't been through. That is when we can either get some expertise from that person or get the two people together and allow that one to minister to the other. In either case, the Holy Spirit, who is our lead and guide, will give us what to say and do.
Be blessed in Jesus name,
Keisha

Another Man’s Embrace

“Stacy, I need more,” Dana said.
“You need more what?” Stacy replied.
“I need more of a man,” Dana said.
“But you are already married…what do you mean you need more of a man?” Stacy asked in disbelief. Her sister had been in and out of relationships for the past eight years. She finally finds a man that treats her better than almost Jesus Christ himself and she’s talking about she needs more. That has struck her last nerve.
“I know Jayson is a good man but I’m not satisfied. It sounds crazy I know but,” Dana said.
“Crazy? How about ludicrous? You sound foolish Dana and I am sick of it. Shut up and settle down. How about that?” she said.
“Stacy, why are you talking to me like that?” Dana asked.
“Because I am sick and tired of you jumping in out of bad relationships and complaining about how you want a good man then when one comes along you say that you aren’t satisfied. It’s just ridiculous!” Stacy yelled.
“Well I’m sorry. I won’t talk to you about my life again,” Dana said.
“I see what momma be talking about,” Stacy said.
“What does that mean?” she asked.
“Nothing…I’ve said too much as it is. Dana, just go home,” Stacy said.
“Fine,” she said slamming the door as she left.
Dana had a lot on her mind. Her sister gave her something to think about but she was also distressed that her own mother was talking about her behind her back. Dana knew she was screwed up but figured that if anybody should understand what she is going through, it should have been her mother. She couldn’t identify with how her sister felt either. They were three generations of dysfunctional women.
Dana went back to her house where her husband was waiting for her. He had the table set for dinner beautifully. He put a fall orange color tablecloth on the table with red cloth napkins with thick wooden oblique holders. Then he set candles in the midst of the different fall color leaves he put as the table setting. It was absolutely gorgeous. Jayson had slow music playing in the background very subtle and when she walked through the door, he said with a smile, “Come here sexy.”
“I’m not in the mood Jayson,” Dana said.
“What’s wrong my shining star?” he said.
“There’s nothing shinny about me…never has been,” she said.
“Dana, I don’t know what happened today but I will tell you this…you are my sunshine and anyone who says anything else has to deal with me first.”
“Jayson, what if I told you that it wasn’t anyone else but that I need more of a man.”
That took him for a loop. He treated his wife with all the love he knew how to give. Jayson’s heart was in his throat. For years he’d tried proving his love to his wife and gave her the love she complained she never received from a man. This time it’s too much. He strolled off silently, turned off the music, blew out the candles and walked out the house.
Dana dropped to her knees and cried out, “What is the matter with me?” She wept for a half an hour and the crying caused her to drift off to sleep.
As she slept, Dana dreamed a dream. A man walks up to her adorned in the finest linen like something out of the prince’s closet of Arabia. He was scented with the intoxicating oils of strong cologne that very sweetly flowed whenever he moved. He handed her a rose then spoke to her.
He said to her, “Dana, I’ve watched you from afar for years; and to see you like this brings my heart to tears. Why is your soul in such anguish? Have you not learned my love language? I know you’ve seen me watching you; I’d reveal myself later but I see it has to be soon. Don’t you remember the kiss on your cheek, soft…almost oblique? What about the flower that bloomed just for you? Or the moment when I catered only to you? I love you with all my heart. I’ve been hear since the beginning even when your life fell apart. Dana, sweetheart, choose me. I want to be by your side, on bended knee. Let me sweep you off your feet. Let me carry you from here until eternity.”
“You say I know who you are; you sound near and yet so far. I don’t know your name. I don’t know your game. I’m bogged down with chains. You don’t know my shame. You say you were there from the beginning…but why didn’t you show up then, making a change in my ending? My knight and shining armor wouldn’t have left me alone. He would have rode in on a white horse and made himself known.”
“But don’t you want to know my love? Don’t you want to know on your part what I have done?”
“If you didn’t come then, why should you come now? Tell me, tell me the when’s, what’s, where’s and how’s.”
“I will answer every question you have but you have to say yes to my love valve.”
“How can I say yes when I don’t know who you are? Or say yes to someone who kept himself in the dark?”
“What you fail to realize is that I’ve always been there. But you are the one who closed your eyes because of what you beared. In your heart you are aware and you know for you I care. You say you don’t know but I know you do. So you can quite playing me like some backyard fool. I was there when you cried. Not only that but I wiped your eyes. How soon you forget what I worked out in your favor? And the small victories you savored. It’s up to you what you want to do. You can either keep up the wall or let me get close to you.”
Dana thought for a second in the dream then said, “I don’t know why I deny myself of you; when you’ve shown me I can be free. I want to get close but I’m scared. I want to love, I want to care. Please, take me from me. Take the scales off my eyes so I can clearly see. Capture my heart to chase after you. Cause me to sing jazz instead of the blues.”
“This is all I wanted from the beginning; to see you shining and gleaming. I promise to woo you every single day. Some may be bright and others may be gray. Nevertheless, with me by your side, I will caress you with comfort and be your guide. I promise to show you that I love you until eternity…even at those times that you hurt Me. I will stick with you even then. I will love you even harder through thick and thin. These words I speak is law. In Me you will find no flaw. I won’t let you down though it may seem that way. Know this, you are not a flunky or my slave. You are my friend…best friend…and I’m going to walk with you until the end.”
Dana woke up and the girl that was once lost is now found. She woke up and got off the couch refreshed and anew. She texted her husband to come home then turned on the music back on and relit the candles. Once Jayson returned home, he stared at his wife in disappointment and started to speak but Dana cut him off.
“Jayson, I know I hurt you with my words but if you will give me three minutes to make it right, I guarantee I can heal those wounds with new words.”
“Go ahead and try.”
“You know that my life has been filled with men that have hurt me, not only with their actions but also with their words. I was so mutilated by what they had done that when you came along I didn’t recognize restoration. After you left, I feel asleep and in a dream a Man approached me. I can’t expect for you to give me all the love I need and that was wrong on my part. You also thought you could restore me but because of the severity of my damage it’s not a job that you could do; only Jesus can. Jayson, you’ve spent years proving your love to me. I have to admit that I don’t know how to love you as I should but Jesus said that he would spend eternity proving that He loves me and as he shows me I can show and prove my love to you.”
“I’ve prayed for this for a long time. I love you so much but loving you the way you needed to be loved became draining. It was too much for me to bear. I’ve prayed and prayed for God to do something because it was getting to the point that I could no longer stay. But I’m willing to be a part of your life as I want you a part of mine until the day we die. It may be a hard road but we can do it…with God’s help. Come on my sunshine, let’s make this a night to remember,” Jayson said as they started a new life together with their love in Jesus’ hands.

Ministering Monday Vol 3
Count the Cost
As I laid in bed yesterday morning thanking God for the new year and thinking about things, there were a few things that I realized. We have to stop telling people that salvation is free because it's not. Salvation costs us something...not monetary but spiritually. To come to Christ costs us and not in a bad way and not in the way some might think. Below are a list of a few costs:
1) We have to give up our own lives.
2) We must die in order to live
3) We must allow God to reign (which by ALL accounts means that we can't try to do it or fix it ourselves
4) We must die (to our flesh) daily
5) It costs us to put down our pride, bitterness, jealousy, anger, unforgiveness, hatred, contention, strife, fornication and so on.
Jesus paid the ultimate price for us and we can NEVER repay our debt and He doesn't expect us to however Christ does expect us to live a standard. If we are calling ourselves HIS, then HE should be shown in us. We are not perfect but we have to do a Phil 1:6, "But he who has begun a good work in us will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ," and trust that He will.
Let Jesus the Christ begin His good work in you today. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and you shall be saved.
Allow God to REST, RULE and REIGN in your heart today. Love you!
